With overcast skies and cool temperatures, some of the best chefs in San Francisco braved the day to raise money for the ALS Association with the popular Ice Bucket Challenge in Koshland Park in San Francisco on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. [ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.]
It was exciting to see all these foodie gods in one place. Bill Corbett, executive pastry chef of the Absinthe Group, accepted the ALS ice bucket challenge from chef Lincoln Carson, and pulled in a few of the local SF chefs and the CEO of Chefs Feed, Rich Maggiato, along the way.
Chefs participating with Bill Corbett were Brett Cooper, formerly of Outerlands, soon to opening a restaurant in the Mission District; Jason Halverson of Stones Throw; Zack Freitas of Games; Nick Erker (a free agent at the moment); Robin Song of Hog and Rocks; Shawn Gawle of Saison; Nicole Krasinski of State Bird Provisions; Kim Alter (free agent at the moment); Ron Boyd of Daniel Patterson Group; Ryan Mcilwraith, who is opening a Spanish restaurant with The Absinthe Group; Joel Ehrlickh, the Sous Chef to Ryan Mcilwraith; and Rich Maggiato, CEO of Chefs Feed.
They continued the challenge to chefs in their group from Seattle, Chicago and New York! Game on!
Great chefs in a great City doing a great job! Kudos!
