Jairo Villalta and Kyle Taylor-Patterson, two of our CommunityGrows Spring BEETS (Band of Environmentally Educated and Employable Teens), attended a fair at the Bay School in the Presidio for First Graduate’s Summer Opportunities on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. They were there to promote the BEETS Program of CommunityGrows.
First Graduate is San Francisco-based college success program that helps students finish high school and become the first in their families to graduate from college. Thanks to their donors and volunteers, First Graduate equips first-generation students with the tools, resources, opportunities and networks necessary to be successful in college and beyond.
Jairo and Kyle did alot of the talking to promote CommunityGrows and the BEETS! They were pretty nervous about representing the BEETS Program but once they started talking about their experience in the program they were on a roll! Out of the 20 organizations, they were the only youth representing their organizations and all the First Graduate students wanted to chat with them. We even set up the table to play the “Guess the Plant Game” and met some students who were very interested in gardening and agriculture. A great way for us to get the word out. Thank you Jairo and Kyle!
