This coming Saturday, August 11th the American Community Garden Association (ACGA) will be in town in the midst of their four day national conference. They will be offering tours throughout the day Saturday, and one, “Youth Empowerment SF style,” will feature CommunityGrows!
The tour will start at June Jordan Middle School (an Urban Sprouts site) and continuing to the Koshland Community Garden (run by Community Grows and SFRPD), this tour focuses upon growing young leaders through horticulture and nutrition education. The tour continues at the Rosa Parks School garden for lunch (another Community Grows and SFUSD site). The BEETS (Band of Environmentally-Educated and Employable Teens) will lead garden tours through Koshland garden. The buzz of this tour is that “these site’s programs are a must see for K-12 garden organizers.”
This tour coincides with our Koshland Park and Garden workday which will take place from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday. We would love to have you come out and join us! Meet some of the ACGA participants from around the country!
